Does it need power?
Yes. Just a little. We also offer battery powered solutions for up to 24h of uninterrupted service. Small generators too!
Can I limit who joins the wifi?
Yes. Passwords can be changed at any time. Multiple networks can be setup and speeds adjusted.
What comes in the rental package?
Hard carrying case, dish, cables, stand. Everything you need to get online, not including electricity.
Does it need to be calibrated?
This device calibrates and angles itself as soon as it is plugged in reducing setup time to <10 minutes.
How long does it take to setup?
Setup should take less than 5 minutes on your first day. Typically, it connects to satellites within 2 minutes. We are available 24/7 to assist with troubleshooting.
Can I plug it into my printer, VoIP phone, or router?
Yes. An ehternet adapter is provided but may require you to set your router's DCHP/NAT settings to "None (Bridge Mode)".
Does it work from a moving vehicle?
If mounted correctly, it is absolutely capable of providing servive on a moving vehicle but service may be interrupted by tree/other coverage, extreme vibrations, etc. Starlink is being tested by Space X on planes and other vehicles.
Where should it be placed?
Dishy likes a view of the sky, unobstructed by trees and buildings. However, Dishy has worked adequately in very obstructed areas and is waterproof and can be left in the sun. My favorite spot this far is on top of a flat-roofed teailer with a sandbag to protect against wind. I draped the cable over the side and ultimately leave the router inside one of the trailer's side compartments, protected from the elements.
Will it hurt me?
Arguably, not more than being so unproductive and stranded on location without any phone or internet service.
